Unlike thermo-catalytic methanation at high pressures and temperatures, the plasma technology is performed at low pressure and temperature.
The gains in terms of equipment and materials involved allow significantcost savings.

The reactor starts and stops in seconds without pressure and temperature pre-start rise. It may allow to participate to the electrical grid regulation by using surplus/cheap electricity.

The degradation and replacement of the catalyst greatly increases the cost of the thermo-catalytic methanation.
Using the plasma technology, the catalyst can be regenerated in situ without regular replacement.

In addition, the use of equipment at low pressure and temperature limits the constraints on equipment.
